1. Your Tax Responsibilities as a Host
As a Host, you are operating as an independent service provider or business owner. You are solely responsible for understanding and complying with all tax laws that apply to you and your earnings from the Findin platform.
1.1. Income Tax
The Payouts you receive from Findin are generally considered taxable income. It is your responsibility to:
- Determine if your earnings are subject to income tax.
- Keep records of your income from Findin.
- Report this income accurately on your annual tax returns filed with the Federal Board of Revenue (FBR) and/or relevant provincial authorities.
- Make any required tax payments.
1.2. Goods and Services Tax (GST) and Provincial Sales Tax (PST) on Your Services
Depending on your level of earnings and the nature of your services, you may be required to register for and collect GST or PST on the services you provide.
- Your Responsibility to Register: It is your responsibility to determine if you meet the threshold for GST/PST registration.
- Your Responsibility to Collect: If you are registered, you are responsible for collecting the correct amount of GST/PST from your Guests.
1.3. Setting Your Listing Price to Account for Taxes
The listing price you set in your Findin listing should be inclusive of any and all taxes (like GST/PST) that you are required to collect from a Guest. Findin does not have a separate feature for you to add GST/PST on top of your listing price. You must calculate the tax you need to collect and factor it into the total price you set.
Example: If you want to earn PKR 10,000 for a night and you are required to remit 15% GST, you should set your listing price at PKR 11,500.
2. A Guest's Perspective on Taxes
When you book on Findin, the Total Price you see at checkout is comprised of several components:
- The Host's Listing Price (which may already include taxes like GST that the Host is required to collect).
- The Findin Guest Service Fee.
- Any GST that Findin is required to charge on its own Service Fee.
The invoice or receipt you receive from Findin will clearly break down these amounts.
3. Findin's Role and Tax Obligations
As an online marketplace registered and operating in Pakistan, Findin has its own specific legal obligations regarding taxes.
3.1. Collection of GST on Findin's Service Fees
Findin provides a service to both Guests and Hosts, and we are legally required to charge GST on our Service Fees.
- For Guests: We will add the applicable GST amount on top of our 12% Guest Service Fee. This will be clearly itemized at checkout.
- For Hosts: We will add the applicable GST amount on top of our 2% Host Service Fee. This total amount will be deducted from your Payout.
This GST is on our fee, not on the Host's service.
3.2. Findin's Obligation as a Withholding Tax Agent (For Host Payouts)
Under Pakistani tax law, Findin is classified as an online marketplace and is required to act as a Withholding Tax Agent for the FBR.
- What This Means: We are legally obligated to deduct a certain percentage of tax (Withholding Tax) from your total earnings (your listing price plus any other fees you charge) and remit this amount directly to the FBR on your behalf.
- This is Not a Fee: Withholding Tax is not an additional fee charged by Findin. It is a portion of your income that we are required by law to pay to the government for you, in advance.
- How It Affects Your Payout: Your final Payout will be your total earnings, minus the Findin Host Service Fee (and GST on that fee), and minus the applicable Withholding Tax.
- Documentation: Findin will provide you with a withholding tax certificate or other relevant documentation for the amount of tax we have withheld and paid on your behalf. You can use this documentation when filing your own annual income tax return.
3.3. Information Reporting to Tax Authorities
Findin may be legally required to share information about your earnings and transactions with the FBR and other tax authorities. By using the Findin platform as a Host, you authorize us to disclose this information as required by law.
4. General Provisions
This policy applies to all bookings made on the Findin platform. Tax laws and regulations are complex and can change. We will update this policy as necessary to reflect changes in legal requirements.
5. Frequently Asked Questions (FAQ) for Hosts
Q: Does Findin remit taxes on my behalf? A: Findin remits two specific types of tax: (1) The GST charged on our own service fees, and (2) The Withholding Tax we are legally required to deduct from your Payouts and pay to the FBR. We do not remit any other taxes, such as income tax or GST on your hosting services, on your behalf. Those are your personal responsibility.
Q: Why is my Payout less than my listing price minus the 2% Host fee? A: Your Payout will be your total earnings minus three things: (1) the 2% Host Service Fee, (2) the GST on that service fee, and (3) the mandatory Withholding Tax that we remit to the FBR on your behalf.
Q: Where can I find how much Withholding Tax was deducted? A: Your transaction history and payout details will show a clear breakdown of all deductions. We will also provide you with a tax certificate for your records.
Q: Do I need to issue a tax invoice to the Guest? A: If you are registered for GST/PST, you may be required to issue a tax invoice to your Guest. You are responsible for understanding your invoicing obligations. Findin's receipt to the Guest is for the service they receive from our platform; it is not a tax invoice for your hosting service.
